Gong Integration

Connect Gong to Brief to extract revenue intelligence and customer signals from your team's sales calls.

Last updated: July 5, 2026

Gong is a revenue intelligence platform that records and analyzes your team's sales calls. Connect it to Brief once at the workspace level, and every call your team runs through Gong can become research signal.

What does Brief capture?

  • Call metadata — timing and duration for calls across your workspace
  • Transcripts — full conversation content, pulled call by call as they complete
  • Research signals — pain points, feature requests, and sentiment surfaced from what customers actually say

Gong flags some calls as private. Brief filters those out before they ever reach extraction — private call transcripts are never ingested.

Why should I connect Gong to Brief?

One connection covers your whole team

Gong is a team-level connection — a Gong admin authorizes once, and every rep's calls flow into Brief. No per-user setup required.

Revenue intelligence, not just notes

Gong calls are sales conversations, so the pain points, objections, and feature asks Brief surfaces skew toward revenue-relevant signal — the kind of detail that's easy to lose in a rep's own notes.

Signals reach the whole org

Once connected, themes and quotes from sales calls flow into the same research signals your team already sees from other sources — no separate dashboard to check.

How do I set up this integration?

Setup time: 2 minutes (plus an optional webhook step for real-time sync)
Who can connect: A Gong workspace admin
Updates: Daily sync by default; real-time once you configure a Gong Automation Rule (step 4 below) — you can also skip that and finish it later

Steps

  1. Go to Integrations in Brief
  2. Find Gong and click Connect
  3. Sign in with your Gong admin account and authorize Brief's OAuth app
  4. On the Connect Gong screen, copy the webhook URL Brief shows you, then in Gong go to Admin Center → Automation Rules → Add rule, set the trigger to New call and the action to Fire webhook, paste in that URL, and choose Signed JWT header for authentication
  5. Copy the public key Gong generates for that rule and paste it back into Brief
  6. Click Done — or Skip for now to finish the connection and set up the webhook later

Because this is a team-level connection, only one person on your team needs to complete this — every rep's calls are covered from that point on.

What happens after I connect?

  1. Webhook setup — Brief gives you a webhook URL and verifies incoming events using the public key you copy from Gong's Automation Rule
  2. Research extraction — as each call finishes, Brief checks whether Gong marked it private, then pulls the transcript and analyzes it for themes
  3. Continuous sync — new calls flow in automatically; Brief's daily sync picks them up, and the Automation Rule (once configured) delivers them in real time

If you skipped the webhook step during setup, new calls still arrive via Brief's daily sync — configure the Automation Rule from Brief's Integrations page whenever you want them in real time.

Privacy Guarantees

  • Private calls are never ingested — if Gong marks a call private, Brief drops it before extraction, every time
  • Aggregated insights, not raw transcripts, reach your team — Brief surfaces themes, trends, and key quotes rather than full call content
  • Admins control access — disconnect or adjust the workspace connection at any time from Settings

Common Issues

"No calls syncing"

Cause: The Automation Rule webhook wasn't finished during setup, or no calls have completed in Gong since the connection was made Fix: Go to Brief's Integrations page and complete the Gong webhook setup (Automation Rule + public key) if you skipped it earlier. Once it's configured, new calls sync automatically as they finish — there's no backfill of historical calls.

"Some calls are missing"

Cause: The missing calls were marked private in Gong Fix: This is expected — Brief never pulls transcripts for calls Gong has flagged private. Nothing to fix on your end.

"Connection needs re-authorization"

Cause: The Gong OAuth token expired or was revoked Fix: Have a Gong admin go to Brief's Integrations page, disconnect Gong, and reconnect.

"No research signals from a call"

Cause: The call was short, or didn't contain much substantive customer conversation Fix: This is expected — Brief only creates a signal when it finds a clear pain point, request, or reaction in the transcript. Not every call will produce one.
