Webex Integration

Connect Webex Meetings for recordings and transcripts, and Webex Messaging for space-based decision and research signal, in one setup.

Last updated: July 5, 2026

Webex covers two things Brief cares about: meeting recordings and transcripts from Webex Meetings, and team conversations from Webex Messaging spaces. Both connect through the same Webex OAuth app, but you set each up separately since they read different data.

What does Brief capture from Webex?

Webex Meetings

  • Recordings — Your cloud-recorded meetings
  • Transcripts — Text from Webex Assistant transcription, where enabled

Webex Messaging

  • Group space messages — Content from spaces you categorize as customer or product
  • Space metadata — Titles and activity, so Brief can group what it reads

Brief only reads group spaces in Webex Messaging — it never reads 1:1 direct messages.

Why should I connect Webex to Brief?

Meeting context without extra recording tools

If your team already runs meetings in Webex, Brief can pull recordings and transcripts directly instead of asking you to add a separate meeting bot.

Team and customer signal from spaces you choose

Webex spaces often carry the same customer feedback and product discussion that Slack or Teams channels do. Categorizing spaces lets Brief extract that signal without reading anything you haven't opted in.

One connection, two capabilities

Because Meetings and Messaging share one OAuth app, connecting once gives your team the option to use either — or both — without a second app approval from your Webex admin.

How do I set up Webex Meetings?

Setup time: 1-2 minutes
Initial sync: A few minutes
Updates: Periodic sync (no instant webhook)

Meeting transcript steps

  1. Go to Integrations in Brief
  2. Find Webex Meetings and click Connect
  3. Authorize Brief in Webex's OAuth flow
  4. Brief checks that your account can access cloud recordings
  5. Done! Brief starts syncing your recent recordings
If your Webex account can't cloud-record at all, Brief blocks the connection up front rather than connecting to a feed that will stay empty. Ask your Webex admin to enable cloud recording for your account, then reconnect.

How do I set up Webex Messaging?

Setup time: 2-3 minutes (includes space categorization)
Initial sync: A few minutes after you save your space selections
Updates: Periodic sync (no instant webhook)

Messaging steps

  1. Go to Integrations in Brief
  2. Find Webex Messaging and click Connect
  3. Authorize Brief in Webex's OAuth flow
  4. Categorize your spaces — for each group space, choose Customer (customer-facing: feedback, support), Product (internal product: engineering, design), Strategy (planning and leadership), or Skip (excluded from Brief entirely)
  5. Click Save & finish

Every space starts as Skip. Brief only reads spaces you categorize: Customer and Product spaces feed research signals, Strategy spaces feed strategy context, and skipped spaces are excluded entirely. If you skip everything, Webex Messaging connects but nothing is ingested until you categorize at least one space.

Common Issues

"Webex Meetings won't connect"

Cause: Your Webex account isn't licensed for cloud recording. Fix: This is a hard block, not a Brief error — Brief checks recording access before completing the connection. Ask your Webex admin to enable cloud recording, then reconnect.

"Recordings show up but transcripts don't"

Cause: Webex Assistant transcription is off by default and isn't retroactive. Fix: Turn on Webex Assistant transcription in your Webex meeting settings going forward. Past recordings without transcription enabled won't retroactively get transcripts.

"No messages synced from Webex Messaging"

Cause: All spaces are still set to Skip, or you only categorized spaces with little activity. Fix: Go to Brief → Integrations → Webex Messaging → reconfigure, and mark at least one active space as Customer or Product.

"I don't see a space I expected"

Cause: Brief's space list only shows group spaces — 1:1 direct messages are never listed, by design. Fix: If the space is missing and it's a group space, confirm you're still a member of it in Webex, then reopen the categorization screen.
